FREE SKOOL TEACHERS WANTED
Free Skool Santa Cruz is a completely grassroots effort, a bunch of individuals deciding to act collectively and autonomously to create a skill-sharing network. More than just an opportunity to learn, we see Free Skool as a direct challenge to dominant institutions and hierarchical relationships. Do you have unique skills and knowledge? Do you want to see change in the world? Are you willing to share what you know in a non-authoritarian and interactive way in an informal setting? We'd like you to be part of this project. We are all students and we are all teachers here.

If you have a class idea that focuses on self-reliance, community, do-it-yourself culture, and creating a new and beautiful world, propose it to us.

Free Skool Summer Quarter runs July 1st to September 31st.  The Free Skool teacher registration deadline is June 7th. We will not calendar classes after this date.

Help Us Cover Printing Costs

I know times are hard, and that's why Free Skool is more important than ever.  We are just finishing up winter quarter and are days away from the spring quarter teacher deadline.  We'll be printing the new calendar two weeks or so after that.

Our only major expense is printing calendars. Printing about 3000 calendars costs about $350. Please consider donating cash to support our printing costs.

It takes about 5 minutes to make a quick donation from our donation page, and a fifty dollar donation goes a long way.  Even five dollars helps us print more than 50 calendars.  Please take a minute to support Free Skool:

Winter quarter continues

Howdy, friends;

We're one month into our winter quarter, things are in full swing, and the calendar is packed with awesome classes and events.

There's lots we're excited about, including Radical Math on Saturdays at SubRosa, weekly Soccer/futbol games, Writing Down the Bones on Tuesdays, Guerilla Grafting, Prisoner Support Letter Writing, and tons more.

Winter calendars are now available on this website, or you can pick one up at SubRosa; 703 Pacific Ave.

Be sure to put the Free Skool Community Picnic on your calendar now: start canning those veggies and preserves to bring and share with your friends and classmates on Saturday January 29th at San Lorenzo Park. If you'd like to hold a workshop at this event, please email us with your ideas at freeskoolsc@riseup.net

Submissions for Spring quarter are due February 7th (earlier deadline this time!!!) and you can email them to us anytime before then.

Promote Your Classes

The Free Skool calendar is coming out soon, but you can still promote your upcoming class.

Some of the most successful and well-attended Free Skool classes had facilitators who promoted their classes through fliering, handbills, email, friends, online forums, community outreach, etc.

I'd suggest you start working on fliers and ways to promote your classes now.  You can bring them to share at our table at the next calendaring day at the Wednesday Farmer's Market.  Also, you can pick up calendars to spread around yourself, as well as meet up with other teachers to collaborate on promoting your free skool classes.

Here are some fliers we've seen for free skool classes in the past.  Hopefully they will inspire you.
